Steel Challenge — Super Steel Outlaw Match
The Alexandria Chapter hosts Super Steel Outlaw Matches — a fast-paced steel target competition open to pistol, pistol-caliber carbine (PCC), and rimfire shooters. These matches emphasize speed and accuracy on steel targets across multiple stages.
Format
- Six stages — three at the pistol range, three at the rifle range
- First four stages: 1 paper target + 4 steel targets, four strings each
- Final two stages: Longer courses with approximately a dozen steel targets
- Scoring: Hit factor (points divided by time)
Permitted Firearms
- Pistols — all centerfire and rimfire
- Pistol-caliber carbines (PCC) — carbines chambered in pistol calibers
- .22 rimfire rifles
- No centerfire rifle cartridges — this is strictly enforced for safety on steel targets
Scoring Divisions
- Centerfire Pistol: Holster draw start
- PCC: Combined centerfire and rimfire carbine division
- Rimfire Pistol: Low ready start
Optics are permitted in all divisions. No magazine capacity restrictions.
Required Equipment
- Firearm — pistol, PCC, or rimfire as described above
- Ammunition: 200-250 rounds recommended
- Holster — required for centerfire pistol division (must cover trigger guard)
- Case or bag — required for PCC and rimfire (no holster start for these divisions)
- Eye and ear protection
Schedule
- 7:45 - 8:15 AM: Arrive and check in
- 8:30 AM: Mandatory safety briefing — do not be late
- ~1:00 PM: Match typically concludes

- Members: $20
- Non-members: $30
- Youth (under 18): FREE
