January 2026 Update
Happy New Year to all Alexandria Chapter members and their families. As we begin 2026, here are the latest updates and news from the chapter.
Budget Approved for 2026
The 2026 chapter budget has been approved by the membership. Our treasurer, Timi, has successfully secured sales tax exemption status for Virginia purchases made on behalf of the chapter. Please note that this exemption applies only to purchases made through official chapter channels — personal credit card purchases are not eligible for tax exemption, even if made for chapter purposes. Coordinate with the treasurer for qualifying purchases.
Revised Range Rules
The Executive Board has approved revised range rules for the rifle and pistol ranges. Key changes include:
- NO shooting forward of the red lines — all shooting must occur from behind the designated firing positions
- Steel targets must be shot from behind the firing line only — do not advance past the firing line to engage steel
These changes improve safety for all range users. Please review the updated range rules posted at the ranges and in the member documents area.
Range Construction
Range construction and improvement projects are expected to proceed as weather permits. These projects may cause temporary closures of all or part of the rifle and pistol ranges. Please check the chapter website calendar for the latest closure notices before visiting the ranges.
Turkey Shoot
The Turkey Shoot is open for the season and runs every Saturday evening through March. Practice at 7:00 PM, shoot at 7:30 PM. This is a public event and a great way to bring friends and family to the chapter. Volunteers are needed to help run the Turkey Shoot each Saturday from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Contact Scott Miller to sign up.
Youth Programs
Homeschooling families — the chapter offers outdoor activities and shooting sports programs that may complement your curriculum. Contact Shotgun Committee Chair Jed Dilts for more information about youth programs and scheduling.
Volunteer Opportunities
Members can earn service hours any day by contacting the caretaker, David Wolfe, at 540-752-5331. There is always work to be done around the property, and every hour counts toward your service requirement and the $50 dues discount for 8+ hours.
Executive Board
The Executive Board meets on the third Sunday of each month at noon, immediately preceding the general membership meeting at 2:00 PM. Board meetings are open to all members.
