The Alexandria Chapter's shotgun range is one of the most active facilities on the property, offering 5-Stand and Trap shooting for members and guests throughout the week.

Operating Schedule
- Monday through Saturday: 9:00 AM to Sunset
- Sunday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Manned operation — members plus up to 4 guests
- Sunday 2:00 PM - Sunset: Members only with their own equipment
Range Types
- 5-Stand: Variable clay target presentations including crossing and going-away angles. A challenging and dynamic format that simulates field shooting scenarios.
- Trap: Regulation trap range with going-away target presentations. Classic clay target discipline suitable for beginners and experienced shooters alike.
- Shotgun Hunter Challenge: Periodically offered format combining various shotgun skills
Fees
- Members: $5 per 25-target round
- Guests: $6 per 25-target round
- No shot larger than 7½ — this rule is strictly enforced for safety and to protect the trap machinery
Membership card required. Club equipment (trap machines, clays) requires purchasing a target card and completing a 30-minute range operations orientation.
New Shooters Welcome
The shotgun range is one of the most welcoming places for newcomers to the shooting sports:
- Complimentary first shoot with coaching — new members receive a free introductory session with experienced instruction
- Loaner shotguns available — no need to own a shotgun to try the sport
- Instructors on staff — experienced shooters are available to help beginners learn proper technique and safety
- Group bookings — groups of 4 or more can arrange a dedicated shooting session
Summer Clinics
The shotgun range offers structured training clinics during the summer months:
- Introduction to Shotgun Sports — $75, 4 hours
- Trap Shooting Clinic — $75, 4 hours
- 5-Stand Clinic — $75, 4 hours
Clinics include instruction, ammunition, targets, and use of club shotguns. Contact the Shotgun Range Committee for upcoming dates.
Turkey Shoot — October Through March
The Alexandria Chapter hosts its popular Turkey Shoot every Saturday evening from October through March. This is a public event and everyone is welcome!
- Practice: 7:00 PM
- Shoot: 7:30 PM
- Open to the public — no membership required
- Prizes awarded to top shooters
- A great family-friendly event and introduction to the chapter
Volunteers are needed to help run the Turkey Shoot each week. Contact Scott Miller or simply show up on a Saturday evening to get involved.
